Team Warfare League Selects Nefsis Video Conferencing
Nefsis provides online meeting room with
multipoint video, voice-over-IP audio and live media sharing for volunteer league
administrators and referees
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — December 1, 2010 — Online
video conferencing services innovator Nefsis®
announced today that it was selected and deployed by Team Warfare League™
(TWL) to provide online meeting services among league officials. Nefsis online
meetings provide an easy venue for TWL volunteers preparing for matches and
conducting post-game reviews. The real-time meetings complement email and forums
for the widely dispersed, all-volunteer organization. The new tools
help make volunteers work faster and easier, improving services for TWL's
gaming community.
TWL is one
of the largest online gaming communities, running ladders for many of the
world's most popular online games. TWL's geographically dispersed volunteers
set rules, direct competition and adjudicate disputes for its online matches.
TWL initially selected Nefsis Basic, a free, entry-level web and
video conferencing service for small business and home office. The
league used Nefsis Basic for one-on-one meetings among game developers
and programmers while coordinating a large server migration project.
Afterwards, TWL began using the service to create game rules and
administer ladders as well. They condensed many of their
administrative processes from weeks of back-and-forth messages in forums to a
few minutes in live online meetings. TWL soon upgraded to Nefsis
Professional, accommodating more online participants and
high-definition video (HD 1080p). In particular, live media sharing
allowed multiple referees to review recorded plays in the same way as
major league football, making online adjudication much faster than
previously possible.
“Our usage of Nefsis continues to grow,” says Myles Angell,
TWL site administrator. “It started out as a simple way for us to
communicate, but now it has grown within our community. Our administrative
staff is a very critical bunch, especially when it comes to video quality,
but Nefsis has stood up to our scrutiny.”
“This is an excellent example of speed-sensitive game developers
selecting Nefsis for multipoint video conferencing,” said Tom Toperczer,
Nefsis vice president of marketing. “Built-in collaboration with live
media sharing was key to follow-on applications,” he added.
