Nefsis Announces Support for VMware and Other Leading Virtualized Server Environments for Business Video Conferencing Applications

Nefsis videoconference server software operates under VMware, XenServer, and Hyper-V virtual server environments, achieving a 100% software infrastructure solution

SAN DIEGO — November 16, 2011 — Video conferencing innovator Nefsis® announced today compatibility and technical support services for its software products running in VMware®, XenServer®, and Hyper-V® virtualized server environments. Customers that choose to operate Nefsis in virtualized server environments achieve a 100% software video conferencing infrastructure solution — no video-specific routers or multipoint control unit (MCU) hardware at all. Nefsis support for virtualized environments is available now. It is of primary interest to enterprise IT staff who require such support or are otherwise interested in implementing secure business video conferencing applications under software, service oriented architecture (SOA), and cloud-driven strategies.

The scope of business video conferencing has expanded from a video-only experience in boardrooms to multipoint video, rich media and fully collaborative online meetings anywhere in business, including multipurpose conference rooms and desktops. As the context has expanded, the need for infrastructure components, such as desktop gateways, MCUs, collaboration servers, and security controls has grown. In prior generations such infrastructure requirements were typically met with rack-mounted hardware components. Alternatively, Nefsis meets these requirements with software running on general-purpose servers in its own cloud and, for those customers that prefer it, premise-based servers.

“Nefsis cloud computing and virtualization technology has dramatically reduced the cost of business video conferencing bringing it within reach of any-sized business. With today's announcement we're supporting virtualized environments as a standard product feature for enterprise networks that opt for private- and hybrid-cloud implementations. Now, they too can get a 100% software solution, even the conferencing server itself can be virtualized,” said Allen Drennan, Nefsis Chief Technology Officer. “In addition to eliminating hardware infrastructure costs, virtualization also eliminates fixed-port capacity limitations, which makes video conferencing much easier to manage and scale.”

Nefsis offers complete business video conferencing solutions for immediate online service activation or corporate network installation. In addition to supporting virtualized environments, Nefsis also provides the following which are essential for a complete solution:

  • Multipoint HD video for desktops and rooms
  • Dynamic scalable video or other variable bitrate communications technology, such that videoconference sessions can successfully operate over existing networks regardless of prevailing bandwidth conditions
  • Advanced collaboration tools for productive online meetings, including features such as document sharing, PDF sharing, desktop and application sharing with annotation, whiteboards, and playing movie files during a conference
  • Complete IT toolkit with automated SSL/TLS encryption, bandwidth test and assessment tools, QoS support, and user, feature, and access controls as may be required in policy-driven network installations

Nefsis support for VMware, XenServer, and Hyper-V virtualized machines is available now as a standard feature of Nefsis Dedicated on-premise server software. A full-featured, free trial is available at www.Nefsis.com.
