Thermal Angel® Blood Warmer Company, Estill Medical Technologies,
Selects Nefsis® Web & Video Conferencing for Online Product
Demonstrations and New Customer Expansion
San Diego, California — September 1, 2009 — Nefsis announced today that the manufacturer of the Thermal Angel blood warming medical device, Estill Medical Technologies, selected and deployed Nefsis web and video conferencing for online product demonstrations and new customer development. Faced with growing product demand, Estill elected to use online video conferencing as a new method to provide sales and support services to new customers in remote locations.
The Thermal Angel is a blood and IV fluid infusion warmer used to combat fluid-induced hypothermia, a major problem during the Golden Hour for all patients who have suffered trauma. This light-weight, completely portable and self-contained device is field-proven in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, EMS, Flight Services, Search & Rescue, and Military Field Medicine.
"We have a 21st century, life-saving product, and we didn't want our customers to wait for last century's sales approach to getting it out there," said Mr. Lopez, Estill Medical Technologies President and CEO. Indeed, one overseas government customer went to the extreme of chartering a jet to expedite initial delivery and training for its military staff. "It's a testament to the product, but we needed a much more cost-effective way of briefing interested parties, hosting Q&A sessions, and delivering product demos," he added.
Nefsis was selected after the Estill team tested several conferencing options. The team chose Nefsis, because it provided the best user experience for remote Estill customers. In particular Nefsis allowed Estill staff to control the size, on-screen placement and quality of the video for all conferencing participants. "Nefsis was head and shoulders above all the other solutions we considered," said Mr. Lopez.
Nefsis is an online service that uses cloud computing and widely available PC video peripherals to simplify the video conferencing process. Virtually any PC desktop can join a video conference, whether located at boardrooms, line employee offices, or remote customer locations. "The Thermal Angel application is an excellent example of using Nefsis to expand sales and support services to new customers and remote locations. It also highlights the reach of new video conferencing technologies, from desktop, to boardroom, to virtually anywhere," said Mr. Steven Peltier, Nefsis CEO.
