Nefsis Uses Common Video Conferencing Equipment for Real-time Online Meetings

Video Conferencing Equipment, Cameras & Microphones
Nefsis works with virtually any Windows compatible audio/video peripherals

Broad Compatibility

Nefsis is broadly compatible with a wide variety of industry standard PC audio and video peripherals. You can use any camera you like. Nefsis is peripheral agnostic and it automatically selects the highest quality imaging capabilities of your camera within the limits of your Internet bandwidth. You might be surprised to learn that even a USB webcam is capable of generating high-quality, full-screen video conferencing.

You can mix and match ordinary webcams, conference room pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, HD, RoundTable, PC built-in cameras, and conference participants with no camera whatsoever, all in the same meeting. Using Nefsis business-grade proxy and firewall compatibility, you can conference with virtually any desktop, laptop, and boardroom anywhere in the world using typical office Internet connections. Moreover, with a full suite of Web conferencing features, you can share desktops and presentations in your video conferences, and accomplish ample work in your online meetings.

Standard A/V Peripherals Don't Collect Dust

Why get stuck with expensive, proprietary hardware that requires dedicated Internet connections and restricted reach to like equipment only? With Nefsis you get the low-cost and reliability benefits of standard A/V peripherals, and worldwide reach to virtually any business desktop at the click of a mouse.

Ordinary Webcams & Headsets for Laptops and PCs

Web Conferencing Cameras & Equipment

Web Camera

Webcams from manufacturers such as Logitech®, Creative Labs®, and many others are compatible with Windows and Nefsis. USB 2.0 and web cams capable of full-screen capture (640x480) or better are recommended. For example, the Logitech Quickcam® Pro 9000 produces stunning quality for a desktop camera and is a leading choice for high-quality, business-grade video conferencing.

Video Conferencing Headsets

Headsets

There are a wide variety of standard headsets, including USB, standard PC audio plug-in (RCA jack) devices, and sound cards that are compatible with Windows PCs.

All of these can be used with Nefsis.

Tabletop speaker & built-in echo canceller microphone

Tabletop Speaker Phones

Headsets are strongly recommended for PC and laptop users, but in some cases, external speakers are required. Under these circumstances, a tabletop speaker with a built-in echo canceller microphone is the best configuration.

Using external speakers without echo cancelling audio input will create feedback loops and degrade the audio quality of your conference. High-quality, echo cancelling audio peripherals such as those shown above are available from Phoenix Audio, ClearOne, Revo Labs and Yamaha among others.

PTZ Cameras & Audio Equipment for Conference Rooms

Pan-Tilt-Zoom Standard Definition Cameras

PZT Cameras for Video Conferencing

Any standard definition video camera with an S-video out cable and a Windows compatible capture card can be used in a Nefsis video conference. For example, the Sony D70 is a leading conference room camera, with outstanding image quality, pan, tilt, zoom, and PTZ pre-sets (useful for showrooms). This camera is a mainstay in conference and board room installations.

HD Camera for Video Conferencing

HD Cameras

Nefsis can use any Windows video input including HD cameras. The Sony® HD1 is a good example, it is among the first standard HD peripherals available. The HDMI output can be mated with most Windows compatible HD video capture cards. Using standard HD peripherals can save tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of dollars versus proprietary HD and telepresence solutions that have no interchange capabilities with other video conferencing systems. HD video conferencing requires substantial bandwidth (2-4 mbps sustained each). Contact us for details.

Microsoft RoundTable Camera

Microsoft RoundTable Camera

The Microsoft® RoundTable™ camera is of course Windows DirectShow compatible, and it can easily be used in a Nefsis video conference.

Other online meeting participants can use another RoundTable, virtually any other camera, or no camera at all. With Nefsis, there is no requirement to match equipment.

Logitech Orbit Camera

Logitech QuickCam Orbit

The Logitech® QuickCam® Orbit is a low-cost, USB camera with motorized tracking (panning) and auto-focus. The image quality is excellent, especially considering its price tag (US street price approximately $125). Installation is as easy as plugging in a USB cable.

Boardroom and Conference Room Microphones and External Speakers

Conference Room Setup

Headsets with earpieces and boom microphones are strongly recommended for desktop users, but in conference rooms, boardrooms and some training facilities, external speakers are required. In these cases, echo cancelling audio inputs are required.

The ClearOne product line is a mainstay in high-end video conferencing and telepresence installations, with multiple inputs, mixing, and standard audio out. It is suitable for medium and large boardrooms and applications where the highest quality is required. Almost every telepresence installation uses ClearOne audio equipment.

For small conference rooms, tabletop units with speakers and built-in echo cancelling mics are available from Phoenix Audio, Yamaha and others. The best choice depends on your budget, the size of your conference room and the application. The staff at Nefsis helps customers every day selecting and configuring A/V peripherals for boardrooms and conference rooms. Please contact us for assistance or a PDF of compatible video conferencing equipment and standard configuration guides.
